Dharma Resort – From Asian Calm to the Serenity of Muhu Island

When asked how their first summer on Muhu Island went, Sven Kotkas answers calmly: “We practiced and adjusted.”Yet even in the very first season, guests arrived from Latvia, Switzerland, France, and the United States. “We’re open in winter as well and look forward to seeing what happens,” he adds.

The story of Dharma Resort began in Asia. Raymond Dharma, who also gave his name to the retreat, brought back the idea of inner peace and harmony, which he wanted to root in a new environment. Five years in Asia’s big cities convinced him that true luxury lies not in noise and speed, but in silence and simplicity. When he and Sven Kotkas began searching for the right place, Muhu Island kept calling to them – with its mystery, spirit, and timeless soul.

“Dharma” in Buddhist philosophy means the path and wisdom of life. The Dharma Wheel, with its eight spokes, symbolizes balance and continuous movement. Inspired by this vision, the resort is also being built step by step. Today, two villas are ready, and in the future, there will be eight in total.

A Place Where Nature and People Breathe Together

Dharma Resort is not just accommodation, but a sanctuary where time flows differently. The villas are tucked among junipers and pine trees, blending architecture seamlessly with nature. Nordic simplicity meets the sense of harmony carried over from Asia, resulting in airy, light-filled spaces that offer peace and privacy.

Instead of hotel rooms, you’ll find sanctuaries – bright, welcoming spaces designed for rest and inner reflection. Services are chosen with intention: yoga, painting, cooking classes, forest bathing, and wild swimming. Not for excess or noise, but so that each guest can breathe with nature and return to themselves.

“Peace arises within us, from how we relate to the world around us,” says Raymond Dharma. For him, Dharma Resort is not a finished object but a living process – each new path opens another discovery, and every guest adds a new layer to the experience.

In Conclusion

Dharma Resort brings together the calm of Asia and the stillness of the Nordic islands. It is a place where people can step aside from the speed of daily life and experience something simple, profound, and unforgettable.
