Muhu Flavors Conquer New York!

Hello dear friends,

Spring has arrived and with it comes the opportunity to discover the magic of Muhu flavors as they prepare to conquer New York! For the first time in history, the flavors of Muhu will be brought directly to the big apple city, where the traditional Estonian Culture Days will take place from April 4 to 7.

Ingrem Raidjõe, owner of Nautse Mihkli and Tuul restaurants, and a true ambassador of Muhu flavors, has already packed her embroidered aprons and loaves of Muhu bread to join her team in New York. A pop-up restaurant will be set up in the Estonian House, featuring a menu filled with authentic Muhu delicacies. Under Ingrem's guidance, the dishes served will embody the finest flavors of Muhu Island.

It all begins with the natural bounty of Muhu's landscape, where Ingrem has gathered an abundance of island herbs, dried funnel chanterelles, and other exciting ingredients to represent our island on the New York stage. Although not all ingredients can be brought from Muhu due to customs regulations, solutions have been found - for example, the traditional siig äkis will be made from locally caught whitefish in the USA!

But that's not all! The Estonian Consulate will host a reception featuring Muhu flavors for high-level diplomatic guests. Ingrem's chefs will proudly wear embroideries crafted by Muhu artisans, bringing the strength and patterns of Muhu directly to the heart of New York.

Ingrem, visiting New York for the first time, shares her expectations: "I hope to return from there safely and continue here in the summer. I want to bring the warmth and authenticity of Muhu to New York." Her sincere desire is to spread the flavors of Muhu beyond the borders of Estonia.

The drink selection will be curated by renowned food blogger and sommelier Kadri Kroon, along with her sister Triinu Kroon-Erm, adding their unique touch to the event. Chef Achim Braitsch of the Michelin-starred Alexander Restaurant at Pädaste Manor wished Ingrem success in representing Muhu and invited her to share her experiences and flavors upon her return to Pädaste.

This is the first time in history that New Yorkers and guests will experience the magical allure of Muhu flavors. Indeed, it's a moment not to be missed! If you happen to be in New York during this time, be sure to stop by the Estonian House.

Stay updated on our activities and watch as Muhu flavors conquer the world! Of course, exciting culinary experiences await you right now in Muhu, not just in the Big Apple. Subscribe to our newsletter at the bottom of the Visitmuhu website.

Best wishes,
