Meet the Ostriches! And not only….

Your hostess, Helena Erik

Tucked away in the serene village of Nautse on Muhu Island, the Muhu Ostrich Farm is a delightful haven where visitors can encounter exotic animals in a natural, open environment. Established in 1999 by the dedicated couple Helena and Elmet Erik, this family-run farm has blossomed into a unique destination that brings joy to visitors of all ages.

Helena and Elmet’s passion for animals and unwavering commitment have transformed their farm into a sanctuary for a variety of creatures. Their warmth and hospitality make every guest feel like part of the extended farm family. It’s not just about seeing the animals; it’s about experiencing the love and care that goes into every aspect of the farm.

Children, in particular, are enchanted by the opportunity to observe ostriches, zebras, kangaroos, and other animals roaming freely, far removed from the confines of traditional zoos. The thrill of feeding ostriches by hand and watching their curious antics creates unforgettable memories for the little ones.

One of the farm’s most fascinating attractions is the ostrich egg. Weighing approximately 1.4 kilograms, a single ostrich egg is equivalent to about 24 chicken eggs! These eggs are not only impressive in size but also in strength—so sturdy that an adult can stand on one without it cracking. Visitors often marvel at these eggs, learning about their unique characteristics and the care required for incubation.

Beyond the animal encounters, the farm offers a charming souvenir shop filled with products made from ostrich feathers, eggs, and leather. From decorative items to natural cosmetics, there’s something for everyone to take home as a memento of their visit.
